Having a “why” is important. It helps us to stay on track and gives us something to look forward to.
Maybe you want to feel more comfortable in social settings. Or maybe you want to feel more at ease in meetings or that important interview.
No matter the case, when you build confidence in one area of your life, it will positively influence other areas as well.
Below are 11 benefits of building self-confidence you probably didn’t realize:
1. Higher Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
When you build confidence you need to be aware of your thoughts and emotions. You also need to focus on emotional management and regulation.
So when you build confidence you are also building EQ, which is the #1 determinate of success. Building EQ will also lead to better leadership ability, less stress and higher influence over others.
2. Make More
When you’re confident, you will speak in a more assertive manner, and you appear as an expert. Not only will you feel confident in your skills and abilities, you will be trusted and viewed as an asset.
3. Spend Less
When you know that confidence can’t be bought, you’ll won’t try to keep up with the joneses. And instead, you will buy things you like because you like them.
So instead of shelling out money on every new trend, you’ll only buy what you want and put the rest in the bank.
4. Become more present and less anxious
Instead of worrying about what people think of you, or how you are going to be received, you will be present and living in the moment. Living in the now will help relieve anxiety.
5. Make Better Connections
Being present will lead to better connections. And when you are confident, you are more true to your inner-being, which will help you attract people you can establish genuine connections with.
6. Better Able to Help Others
Remember, you can’t give from an empty cup. When you build confidence you fill your cup, and when your cup runs over, you can then more effectively give to others.
7. Less Likely to be Manipulated
When you are confident in who you are and where you want to go in life. Meaning you are less likely to be sidetracked by people who think their key to happiness is your key to happiness.
You also wont be bogged down with or end up people pleasing.
8. Better able to stick to goals
With confidence you will be more like to stick to goals because you will move forward when, without confidence, you could have gotten stuck.
9. Increased self-empowerment, self-love and self-worth.
When you build your confidence, you will also build an incredible self-empowerment and love. All of this will create a positive looping that will continually feed upon itself and lead to a happier and more fulfilling life.
10. Gain Resiliency
Self-confidence is the bedrock of resiliency and grit because it feeds the drive to keep going even in times of adversity or uncertainty.
11. Stop Limiting Yourself
With confidence, even if the road ahead is unknown and scary, you will be more likely to travel it. You are more likely to take healthy risks and consider opportunities you would not have previously.
